Now, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and looking at complicated equations puts some of you off straight away, but let me reassure you - that is not all that STEM has to offer!
Let's take Science. Ever wondered if there really is life out there somewhere? Or have you ever wanted to get answers to those pressing questions you've got? Science allows you to do just that. Then there's Technology. I'm assuming (as you are reading this!) that you have embraced the modern world full of technological advances. In most of our lives, we come across computers, laptops, snazzy computerized kitchen gadgets and let's not forget the smartphone that follows you everywhere! Technology has become such a large part of our daily lives that there's no reason to not learn how and why it works. We'll now talk about Engineering. From the minute you wake up (from a bed that has been engineered to serve a purpose) to the minute you go back to bed, almost everything you encounter has been engineered. Your toothbrush. Your car. Your TV. Everything has constantly been engineered to make our lives easier, better and more convenient. If you've got this far through the post and still need convincing, then I can try and do that using Maths (don't worry, no long and complicated equations are involved)! Not all of Maths is complicated trigonometry or algebraic expressions (unless, of course, that is what you need/want to study). Simply looking for patterns in various things or even the daily shop consists of Maths, you probably just don't realise it as much! STEM encompasses a variety of different interests and if you look in to it at different angles (not Mathematically), then you can find topics that might surprise you and ignite a flame of enthusiasm. On that note, I'd like to direct you to my other site called {name} which is a way for me to get people like yourself to see that there is more to STEM than some may think. Take a look, and see what you can uncover! Keep Learning! Zoe

As my key interest, I want to share that with you and hopefully open your eyes to the scientific concepts happening in the world around you. ArchivesCategories |
